Audit Committee Mission Statement/Purpose: To serve as advisory to the Spokane City Council on audit matters. The Audit Committee advises and assists the Spokane City Auditor with audit scheduling, follow-up and special needs. Committee members shall have experience in one or more of the following: 1) Business (for profit or non-profit); 2) Accounting; or, 3) Finance. All appointees shall be independent of City of Spokane management and administrative services. Committee Requirements: The Audit Committee consists of five or seven members who are appointed by the City Council to staggered three-year terms and are limited to three consecutive terms. SMC 7.11.030. The appointees are nominated by the Mayor to the City Council Section 28 (8) of the City Charter. The City Council appoints at least one of its members to serve on the committee as a non-voting liaison member. Authorized by and Date: Authorized by Spokane City resolution. Meeting Location, Time, and Dates: Meetings are held in the City Council Briefing Center, City Hall, at least quarterly.
