Civil Service Commission

Spokane City Charter (Title 4); 1960

Mission Statement or Purpose:
Advises the City Council, Mayor, and Department Heads on matters relating to the Civil Service Merit System. Maintains a classification plan for City positions in accordance with competitive merit principles. Reviews and approves personnel status changes. Adjudicates employee appeals and complaints. Maintains centralized personnel records of employees. Conducts orientation programs for new employees.

Meeting time, day, location:
The Commission meets on the Third Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the City Council Chamber.
