Mission Statement
The mission of the Office of the Spokane City Prosecuting Attorney is:
To promote justice and protect the people of the City of Spokane by aggressively and fairly prosecuting those who violate the law.
In fulfillment of this mission the office employs 13 prosecuting attorneys engaged in the prosecution of nearly 10,000 criminal cases annually. These cases are prosecuted using a concept called “Enhanced Vertical Prosecution (EVP).” Essentially, EVP assigns each criminal defendant to a given prosecutor for all crimes charged over time. This allows the prosecutor to become familiar with the defendant and his particular conduct as a whole rather than on a case by case basis. This prosecution begins on each case at arraignment and continues through trial if the case is not resolved beforehand.
Because of the very high individual caseload of the prosecutors in this office individual contact with witnesses and victims on each case as it proceeds through the process is nearly impossible. However, any witness or victim may contact the assigned prosecutor to see where their case is at any point in the process. If the prosecutor is in court you may leave a message with your name, the case number and a phone number to contact you. The assigned prosecutor will return your call at the next available opportunity. Please realize that when a prosecutor is in trial, normally Thursdays and Fridays, you may not receive a return call for a few days. |
