Duties: Performs responsible supervisory and technical work in directing the operations of a secondary waste water treatment plant on an assigned shift. Employee may be required to work on a shift basis, on weekends and holidays.
Open Requirements: (All requirements must be met at time of application.) Completion of at least five years experience as a Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator. Applicants must possess a valid Class III Waste Water Operator’s Certificate as issued by the State of Washington. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
Promotional Requirements: (All requirements must be met at time of application.) Employees who have completed at least one year of service with the City in the classification of Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator I, Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator II, or a combination thereof, may apply on a promotional basis. Applicants must possess a valid Class III Waste Water Operator's Certificate as issued by the State of Washington. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
Examination: Upon request, at time of application, the City will provide alternative accessible tests to individuals with disabilities that impair manual, sensory or speaking skills needed to take the test, unless the test is intended to measure those skills.
The examination will be conducted on the 4th Floor, City Hall. Approximate duration of the test is 2 ½ hours. Applicants will be notified when and where to appear for the examination.
The examination will consist of a written test, and for promotional applicants, a promotional evaluation. Weights will be assigned as follows:

The written test may include such subjects as: Safety; Terms; Technical Knowledge; Public/Employee Relations; Equipment; Supervision/Training/Reports.
