City Garbage Pickup To Resume Monday

Here are a few tips to help ensure you receive service

Release Date: 12/19/2008 12:30:00 PM

Contact: Marlene Feist, 625-6740

The City of Spokane's Solid Waste Management Department will resume commercial and residential garbage pickup services on Monday. Garbage collection will be the priority, and it is possible that curbside recycling services may not proceed in some areas in the coming week.

"We are dedicated to providing the citizens of Spokane with a high level of service,” says Scott Windsor, Solid Waste Management Director. "Unfortunately, this record-setting snow has hampered our efforts. We want to thank our customers for their patience and willingness to work with us.”

With the amount of snow expected to be on the ground next week, the City has a few tips to help customers make their garbage carts and dumpsters accessible to the garbage trucks and help ensure service:

  • Please put residential garbage carts out where they are normally pickup up. Make sure they are not blocked by snow or cars.
  • Please remove snow from around your commercial dumpsters need so that our trucks will be able to access them.

Remember, customers who normally receive garbage pickup services on Thursday and Friday can put out twice their normal garbage amount next week at no charge because their service was not provided this week. Because of Christmas on Thursday, Dec. 25, Thursday customers should put out their trash on Friday, Dec. 26, and Friday customers should put out theirs on Saturday, Dec. 27.

If your curbside recycling is not collected, please save the items for the following week.
