About the Spokane City Championship

This tournament has much history in Spokane, dating back to 1943 when Irving Cornell won what was then referred to as the Spokane Municipal Championship and continued until the 1980’s. This Championship icon was rekindled in 2005 and has grown every year since. In 2006 a very popular Senior Division was added.

About Esmeralda Golf Course

Esmeralda, constructed in 1956, is located in northeast Spokane at 3933 East Courtland Ave. Esmeralda offers open space and flat fairways lined with over 2,000 trees. The combination of attributes makes this superbly maintained course an easy one to break 100 on and tough to break par. Seniors and beginners find Esmeralda a great haven and help to make it Spokane's most played municipal course with par 70, 6,249 yards. Esmeralda's layout lends itself to all levels of golfing skills. Rex Schultz is the Head Professional.

About Downriver Golf Course

Downriver is a layout that can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. While not horribly intimidating for the occasional player it also provides a great challenge for the accomplished golfer. Downriver, located at 3225 Columbia Circle, is one of the oldest golf courses in the Spokane area and was built in 1916. The golf course is heavily treed, lies along the Spokane River and is bordered by Riverside State Park. Over the years Downriver has become a community favorite. Steve Conner is the Head Professional.

About The Creek at Qualchan

Qualchan is the Golf Division’s newest golf course, offering a new dimension to golf in the Spokane area. A creek meandering throughout the course, five ponds, wooded and hilly areas, a few holes with open beauty, and well protected greens add a new treat to Spokane's enthusiasts. Qualchan is located at 301 East Meadowlane Road in a very natural setting which provides a sanctuary for many species of birds and wildlife. The Creek at Qualchan is a member of the New York State Audubon Society. Four sets of tees and a par of 72 will give all skill levels a special golf experience. Mark Gardner is the Head Professional.

About the Parks and Recreation Golf Division

Enjoy excellent facilities, beautiful scenery, and challenges for the beginner or professional. The courses include Indian Canyon, Downriver, Esmeralda and the Creek at Qualchan.
