The City of Spokane is seeking applications from individuals interested in serving on the Northeast Public Development Authority (NEPDA) Board, which was created late last year to stimulate economic development and growth in the Northeast part of the City.
“We have a tremendous opportunity for growth in Northeast Spokane, and this public-private development corporation will provide leadership and project management to take advantage of that opportunity,” says Spokane Mayor David Condon. “We are seeking people with business expertise and a desire to help with this important work to apply to serve on the volunteer Northeast Public Development Authority Board.”
The City is seeking individuals with experience in urban revitalization, industrial development, funding and finance, public organizations, and project management and implementation. Interested individuals can fill out the Committee/Boards/Commission Application; applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, July 6.
The NEPDA was created at the recommendation of a 14-member board called the Northeast Development Advisory Board that spent a year working with residents, and businesses, and organizations to analyze Northeast Spokane’s economic issues and develop possible solutions. The NEPDA is an extension of the City that would carry out public and private partnerships, financing for economic development activities, and develop a land use direction and infrastructure plan for Northeast Spokane.
The group’s work is intended to encourage development and investment in Northeast Spokane that will lead to new jobs and improved vitality for the area.
