City Seeks Applicants for 2013 Community Development Block Grant Public Service Funding

The City of Spokane’s Community Development and Human Services Department is seeking applicants for 2013 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) public service funding. Applications are due by Thursday, Oct. 11, at 4 p.m.

Up to $150,000 will be available for public service and human service agencies that assist people with low and moderate incomes within the City limits. The funding can be used for child care, health care, crime prevention, substance abuse counseling, job training, community center operations and activities, recreation programs, or other similar services for youth, families, and seniors.

The funding is for the 2013 fiscal year, which runs from July 1, 2013, to June 30, 2014. Annual CDBG funding comes to the City from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

To be eligible for the funding, service providers must be a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization or a public agency.

Applications are available through the Community Development and Human Services Department at 625-6325. The department is located on the sixth floor of Spokane City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
