Events Set in Spokane for MLK Day

Spokane is ready to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A number of events are planned in Spokane around this holiday. Here’s a quick look:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 15, noon to 1 p.m.—“I Have a Dream,” Providence Holy Family Hospital, 5633 N. Lidgerwood St., Health Education Center in the lower level. Reverend Percy Happy Watkins’ delivery of Dr. King’s famous speech.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 16, 8:30 to 10 a.m.—Drum Majors for Justice, Spokane Community College, 1810 N. Greene St., at the Lair-Student Center Auditorium in Building 6.
  • Sunday, Jan. 20, 4 to 6 p.m.—Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Celebration with guest speakers: Freda Gandy, current MLK Family Outreach Center Executive Director, and Ivan Bush, former MLK Family Outreach Center Executive Director at the Holy Temple Church, 806 W. Indiana Ave.
  • Monday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m.—Annual Unity March, marchers gather at the breezeway at the Spokane Convention Center, 334. W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
  • Monday, Jan. 21, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.— Community Resource Fair, River Park Square, first and second floors, and Children’s Learning Resource Fair, River Park Square, second and third floors.

All events are free and open to the public.
The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration Committee is comprised of community members. More information is available by calling (509) 455-8722 or by visiting the web or Facebook.
