1. Aquatics Public Meeting
The Spokane Park Board’s Aquatics Citizens Advisory Committee has scheduled three public meetings to receive input on Spokane Parks and Recreation Department aquatics facilities.
2. Riverfront Park job fair
The 14th Annual City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department Job Fair is scheduled to take place Saturday, February 10, 2007 in the Riverfront Park Pavilion (near the IMAX Theater) from 10AM – 2PM.
3. Calling All Kids
The City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department presents one more chance for kids to attend the 10th annual "Beyond Pink" - Barbie Party. The first two parties were sold out and now only 70 tickets remain for a special Saturday presentation which has just been added.
4. Flashlight egg hunt
Join the Easter Bunny for the most unique egg hunt in Spokane! Bring your flashlight and basket to this "everybody wins" event.
Come prepared for the weather, tons of fun and prizes. Find the hidden gold or silver eggs for EGGstra special prizes!
5. New Aquatics Center
Recently completed scientific research conducted by Strategic Research Associates on behalf of the Spokane Parks and Recreation Department indicates strong support for maintaining and continuing to operate the city's five existing swimming pools.
6. Live it up!
(Downtown Spokane, WA, June 4, 2007) – Celebrate urban living at its finest on Father's Day Weekend, June 16 from noon to 6 p.m. and 17 from noon to 4 p.m. Grab Dad and come Downtown for Live it up!—a self-guided tour of 20 different urban housing projects and see just how Downtown lives.
7. Joe Albi Recreation Complex
The Spokane City Council is asking citizens what they think about a proposal for the Joe Albi Recreation Complex, which would be developed on property surrounding Joe Albi Stadium in northwest Spokane. Comments are requested by Monday, June 25, via email to Citizens also can call the City Council office at 625-6255 or write to Council Member Rob Crow, City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd., Spokane, WA, 99201.
8. Plaques in Riverfront Park
Dads throughout the region will no doubt be treated royally this Sunday, Father's Day. If you're so inclined while strolling through Riverfront Park, you can find two plaques commemorating the founding of Father's Day and the Spokane YMCA as the original location where Father's Day was first discussed.
9. Park Bench Café
The Park Bench Caf‚ in Manito Park will open with a full menu on June 15th. The Caf‚ will operate daily from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., seven days a week, including holidays.
