Reverend Samuel Parker visited the Spokane (Spokane Indians) around this time. He reported a population of 800 Native Americans that were living in the Spokane Falls area. Also, Marcus and Narcissa Whitman established a medical mission and a school to serve the Cayuse Indians and travelers on the Oregon Trail. |
