SPD launches New Citizen Tipline Tool

Tipline designed to help citizens relay important information to police

Release Date: 2/21/2013 11:30:00 AM

MEDIA CONTACT:  Jennifer DeRuwe

Spokane Police have developed a new tool for citizens to communicate to the Police Department: the SPD Tipline.

The SPD Tipline 242-TIPS (3877) can be accessed via a call or on the SPD website www.SpokanePolice.org and the new program is an effort to help members of the public communicate with SPD and vice versa.

The Spokane Police Department has activated the new tipline, 242-TIPS (3877), in hopes to serve our community better. There is also an active email address, spdtipline@spokanepolice.org, for citizens to send an email directly to SPD with concerns. The intent is to provide our citizens the opportunity to anonymously relay information about possible drug or gang activity as well as nuisance houses.

Using this new system, once a citizen leaves a voice message or submits an email, a representative with the Spokane Police Department will contact the citizen to ensure accurate information. The complaint will then be directed to the appropriate unit within the agency within 24 hours.

Thank you for helping us fight crime by utilizing the SPD Tipline.
